New GPS antenna, Go Finland for repairs

The sun is shining, we have breakfast and Sakke fixed the shaft of the service-car at his KTM’s back. 12:30h Anja, Jaska, Sakke + I started journey back to Finland to get some spare parts. Sakke leaves us in Kotamus and Jaska was our tour guide for some little trip around the lake! 372km on gravel road, first contact with swamp and very old bridges…fun begins…MORE! Anja asked how much to go back to our campground, 20/50/100km, no only 90km, o.k. let`s go…

Contact to the real Dusty Wobbls trails

During that time Sakke met some bikers in a café near the border who could give some help. They rode together 100km to a garage and repaired the rotten bear ring. ½ hour later work was done and the bikers don’t want any money for help. Sakke forced them to have a coffee together listen about our plans and Sakke drove back. We met Sakke nearly at the same time in our camp, told us the story about the repairing, then some nice chili con carne…;)) from our kitchen team and sauna of course. I have wet feet for the first time!

Ari, Jonko + Mika continue and slept at some 2.worldwar monument: It was fu…. cold! Then there was something broken at Ari`s rear sub frame. The lucky guys met a Russian Biker who knows some other guy 150km far away in Kandalaksha. He made some new parts for the KTM rear sub frame during night time and they stayed in a hotel in Kandalaksha.

Monday, 5.9.2011, what a day!!!

The sun is shining, 8:30h breakfast, Aki, Sakke + Jaska repaired the car (how was that with that 3 small springs inside the rear brakes of the car?! Don`t need 😉 Test the car and everything was fine! 11:30h the car leave and Sakke, Jaska, Anja + I continue to some very nice gravel roads with old difficult bridges and water crossings. Anja and I learned from km to km…and made some great tourist photos..; I have second time wet feet).

Over the rotten bridges

We had to stop because Sakke lost his footrest. Some aluminum part was broken, but we could fix it at the original position and continue at a very bad asphalt road… They closed the next gas station just when we came. What now? Sakke communicate with service crew and 20 minutes later we met them there, good navigation for the excellent drivers! We went on and stopped at a small restaurant: All hungry, but how to communicate if you don`t speak Russian… 4 coffee and 4 x the same what the man at the neighbor table is eating! 😉 good… tank stop and continue to Kandalaksha to the BETA gas station.

Some food like neighbour table

Where are Ari, Jonko + Mika? Sakke tried to communicate with them, we drank coffee at 23:00h and Jaska notice some nice Russian girls walking up and down… Ari came and next problem was explained: Jonko`s KTM lost something between exhaust and cylinder. He lost power, but he and Mika arrived and we wait for the service car… What now? Lea explained the campground by mail and Google earth. But at that time build up the camp, staying at the gas station? No we went to the same hotel where the guys had been the night before. 0:15h at the hotel and enough free rooms. Ari paid, but silly Russian clerk understood nothing. We tried to explain, but he only gave us 2 keys… After long time of annoying explanation from Ari and Sakke that we need 5 rooms for 9 persons Sakke shows him his passport and where he has been… the man gave us the keys, so that we could have a shower at 1:45h and some beer, goooood night!

More is coming…
